Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 26 May 2026

These Terms & Conditions govern the provision of electrical services by Greenhough Electrical Services ("we", "our", "us") to you ("the customer", "you"). By engaging our services, you agree to these terms.

1. Definitions

  • "We/Us/Our" refers to Greenhough Electrical Services, operated by Jack Greenhough.
  • "You/Your" refers to the customer engaging our electrical services.
  • "Services" means any electrical work, inspection, testing, installation, repair, or consultation provided by us.
  • "Quotation" means the written estimate we provide detailing the scope of work and price.

2. Quotations and Pricing

2.1 Free Quotations

All quotations are provided free of charge and without obligation. We do not charge for site visits conducted solely for the purpose of preparing a quotation.

2.2 Fixed Pricing

Unless otherwise stated, our quotations are fixed-price. The price quoted is the price you pay — we do not add hidden charges, call-out fees, or surprise costs. If during the course of work we discover unforeseen issues (e.g. hidden asbestos, defective existing wiring not visible during the survey), we will discuss any additional work and costs with you before proceeding.

2.3 Quotation Validity

Written quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated.

3. Materials and Workmanship

3.1 Premium Materials Policy

We use only premium branded materials in all our work: LSF (Low Smoke & Fume) cable, metal back boxes (not plastic), RCBO-protected consumer units, and branded fixtures and fittings. We do not substitute lower-grade materials to reduce costs. This is a non-negotiable standard applied to every job, large or small.

3.2 Workmanship Guarantee

All our installation workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of completion. If any defect arises due to our workmanship within this period, we will rectify it at no additional cost. This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights. Manufacturer warranties on products (e.g. consumer units, EV chargers, smart devices) are separate and typically range from 2 to 10 years.

4. Payment Terms

4.1 Small Jobs (under £500)

Payment is due on completion of the work. We accept bank transfer and card payments.

4.2 Larger Projects (over £500)

For projects exceeding £500, a deposit of 25% may be requested to secure the booking. The remaining balance is due on completion. For projects spanning multiple weeks, staged payments may be agreed in advance.

4.3 Late Payment

Invoices are payable within 14 days of issue unless otherwise agreed. We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue payments at the statutory rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

5. Cancellation and Rescheduling

5.1 Your Right to Cancel

You may cancel or reschedule your booking at any time. We ask for at least 48 hours' notice where possible. For cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice, we reserve the right to retain any deposit paid to cover lost time and materials already purchased.

5.2 Our Right to Cancel

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule appointments due to circumstances beyond our control, including severe weather, illness, or supply chain issues. In such cases, we will notify you at the earliest opportunity and arrange an alternative date. No charges will apply.

6. Access and Site Conditions

You are responsible for providing safe, unobstructed access to the work area. This includes moving furniture, clearing loft hatches, and ensuring utilities (water, gas) are accessible where needed for earthing and bonding inspections. We will protect floors and surfaces with dust sheets and clean up thoroughly after each day's work.

If the property is unoccupied at the time of our visit and we have been given prior permission to access it, you remain responsible for securing the property after our departure unless otherwise agreed in writing.

7. Certifications and Compliance

All our electrical work is carried out in compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition), Part P of the Building Regulations, and all applicable British Standards. Upon completion of notifiable work, we will:

  • Issue the appropriate electrical certificate (Electrical Installation Certificate, Minor Works Certificate, or EICR).
  • Notify the relevant building control body via our Part P registration.
  • Provide you with a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate within 30 days.

8. Insurance

Greenhough Electrical Services holds £5,000,000 Public Liability Insurance. A copy of our insurance certificate is available on request.

9. Emergency Call-Outs

Our emergency call-out service is available 24/7, 365 days a year. During my working day (Monday to Friday), the first hour is charged at £70. For call-outs at night or on weekends, the first hour is £110. This is not a call-out fee - it is the rate for the first hour of labour. Parts and materials are charged at cost. We will provide a clear verbal estimate of any additional costs before proceeding beyond the first hour.

10. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any matter for which liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Our total liability for any claim arising from our services shall not exceed the value of our public liability insurance (£5,000,000). We shall not be liable for consequential or indirect losses, including loss of income, business interruption, or damage to property caused by pre-existing electrical defects that could not reasonably have been identified during our survey.

11. Complaints

We take customer satisfaction seriously. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact Jack Greenhough directly at jack@greenhough-electrical.co.uk or call 07468 456 088. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and aim to resolve it within 14 days. If we cannot resolve the matter, you may refer your complaint to the NICEIC or the relevant trading standards authority.

12. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website. The terms applicable to your project are those in force at the date of your quotation or booking confirmation.
